New PC! Onboard LAN not detected.

Hey all. I just put together a new pc today. Here is the hardware:

ASUS A7N8X Motherboard
Western Digital 80gb Hard Drive
ASUS VGA V7100PRO32 MX400 Video Card

The rest is unimportant. Anyway the onboard lan port is not being detected. I think its an IRQ confict. cat /proc/interrupts gives a line that says:

ERR: 2

I'm assuming that this means their are 2 errors. Also it shows:

11: 0 usb-ohci

I've read that tradionally IRQ 11 is for eth0. Could this be the confilct? What is the best way to go about troubleshooting this issue?

IRQ shouldn't matter much on anything newer... what's the /sbin/lspci off of this card?

Cheers,

Finegan

Can you disable plug'n'play in the bios?

Crashed_Again 08-22-2003 04:56 AM

/sbin/lspci gives:

00:04.0 Ethernet controller: nVidia Corporation nForce2 Ethernet Contoller (rev a1)

I can't disable plug and play in the bios either. I don't understand what is the issue here.

Interestingly, if I boot to the gentoo live cd everything is fine. I can ping any host.

The nvidia nic isn't supported natively until 2.4.21 or 22 I think, doesn't matter, there's an RPM at the nvidia website specifically for the NIC and for the nforce chipset as well:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_nforce_1.0-0261

Cheers,

Finegan
