new parallel port installation in RHEL3


hii

I had a trouble in installing a parallel port in linux(RHEL3) machine
,my purpose is to run both printer and scanner in same machine.I tried it and the hardwre detector kudsu is detecting the new parallel port but when i connect the printer or scanner to it it is not working .The parallel port's make is Netmos technologies.Can anybody help me in this regard.

How have you been testing the printer and scanner on the new port?
Do the scanner and the printer work on the old port?

Kudzu has detected and set up the new port (check dmesg).

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLAY.

i had tested the printer and scanner individually in the old port ,and both of the works without any problem .while i connect the new parallel port ,the kudzu detects it but when i connect the scanner or printer it is not working .That is the problem.
