New member and new linux user


Hi all,

Actually this is my first participation in the forum and iam a new user for linux.

iam using Red Hat Fedora core 4, whenever iam trying to install an rpm package and after successfully had been installed i don't know from where to run the program (for windows u can do from start menu or from program files but here where can i find the execute file)
plz help

Which program are you trying to run??? They're installed in lots of different locations.

If you're at a command line, try:

rpm -ql <package name> such as rpm -ql gqview

This will throw out a large list of whatever files are in that RPM package, with their paths. Look at the lines, and you should see some in /bin, /usr/bin, /sbin/, etc. One will probably be what you need.

If you're using KDE, it'll probably shove it into your menus somewhere. I don't use Gnome, but it probably will put it in there, too.
