New HP Printer
Yesterday I spent about 2 hours in Best Buy looking at the HP Printers.
I found the new HP Envy Wireless All in One the most appealing. Model # D411c
Black ink produces about 200 pages and color; approx. 165 pages ( only got 10 pages with Kodak)
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...&lang=en&cc=us
I found the driver on the HP website so that's positive ( getting rid of the Kodak Esp 7 ) and read about 10 to 20 pages of reviews.
I am wondering if any one already has this printer and if in honesty could tell me a little bit of their experience with it-

can't say I have, but I have usually had nothing but good experience with HP printers and Linux, you would download the driver here http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html? which is where the hp driver download page will take you anyways, it's very easy to install and run, even auto-detects the printer and downloads the appropriate driver automatically off the Internet ^^ and then installs it.
good luck

No experience with that exact model. I also have had good experiences with HP printers and Linux. I just replaced my Photojet 7550 with an Officejet 6100 ePrinter. All I needed to do was connect the 6100 via USB and CUPS automagically added it. Best part is that it worked with no futzing around from me.
It was simple to plug the ethernet cable in the back (I've wired most every room in my house with ethernet) and manually set a static IP address. Batta bing, anything that is wired can print (Windows, Linux, OSX). It was just as simple to manually set a static IP for the 802.11 connection. Batta, batta, bing, bing, printing from wireless devices (Windows laptops, Linux laptops, iPad, Android phone) enabled.
All together it took me about 40 minutes including the time I needed to RTFM.

I also have nothing but good to say about my HP L7680, not just the printer but also the driver support.

I was glad to hear of the good experience that you have had with the HP Printers that you do own. Thank You
However; if one of the members here have recently purchased this particular model ( HP Envy; # D411c ) I would appreciate it if you could elaborate about the set up and ease of use. I waisted about $200.00 on the Kodak and don't want to repeat that process.

If a Linux driver for that model is on HP's website, there should be no problem. Not only are HP printers of very high quality, but HP has excellent Linux support.

The driver is indeed on the HP website; thank you for that confirmation.
It's good to hear that HP has good support for Linux.
I plan to purchase the above named printer tomorrow-

If the printer is not ready to go immediately, make sure your user is part of both the lp group and lpadmin group.
With Debian, getting my HP to work was a simple two-step process:
Down-load the driver from HP's website.
Then:

I purchased the printer yesterday. I'm reading all of the paperwork that came with the printer and debating if I'll use the cd that came with it to install it and set it up or go to the HP website and follow the instructions. Either way I hope to have my new HP up and running by sometime tomorrow.
I wrote down the command that you posted ; thank you
