new computer and inet
Hi folks, just got a new computer, yanked out my harddisks from its predecesor, plugged them in in the correct order and bingo, it started up, wow!
now minor problem is I don't have internet. How do I ask ubuntu karmic, to use the new ethernet on board ?

This will show us what adapter you have? Also check in /etc/network/interfaces
to see if it shows anything like iface eth0 up

ok Ill do that, but it don't work off the live cd anyway. so I think off ausu? can't recall yet. i'll be back in tick with info

I did that all that in lspci was nvidia graff card, and interfaces was lo.
not a problem tux, has just become tux2, so old tux2 network card avilible now so we'll be up in a min or two thanks

I have disabled the onboard eth now, the pci card inserted, works. so how do i ask it to use eth2 (thats what it says)

oh yes!
the thing acctually works out of the box! the net, well it helps alot if I plug in the correct eth cable, not one the goes no where
