new burner


I am trying to install a newer faster burner on ubuntu
old one is 4x new one is 36x, system boots up ok but when I try burning with new burner system crashes, How do i get os to recognize new burner
thanks tor the help

1. read the stickies
2. what kind of burner and how/where did you install it?
3. lspci (is the burner there?)
4. how did you try to burn using the new burner? (did you try cdrecord from cli?)
5. in what way did ubuntu crash? (section 11? hung screen? box blew up?)
