Unhappy Networkcard is acting weird

Hi, for some reason I can't get my networkcard to work properly in (Debian-based) Knoppix 3.2 (read my other threads for why I'm using it).
lspci spits out this: "02:0c.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)",
and /sbin/lsmod tells me this: "8139too 17160 1".
If it's important, I have an Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard.
Anyways, the mega-weird part is this: I have a live cd of Knoppix 3.2 (from which I installed it), and when I use that live cd to boot, internet (networkcard) works, but if I boot to the installed version, it doesn't!
If anyone can help me, I'm desperate!

TIA,
Rolby

ps. you can read my previous threads (if you haven't already) to see why I'm so desperate.

i don't know what your exact problem is but the Realtek 8139C was not supported in the older versions of the 8139 driver. Normaly it should be supported in the newer drivers. I couldn't get my 8139C working in linux so i got another card, also a realtek 8139 but not a 'C' and the problem was solved.

I had a very similar problem - when using it 'live' the network card worked, when installed it didn't. Try manually bringing up the card (ifconfig eth0 up or ifup eth0 as root) to ensure Knoppix is seeing it correctly.
