Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

network HP ColorLaserJet 3600 - Yast on openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 3.5 - unable to access

Some days ago I got the HP ColorLaserJet 3600 network printer at my office installed by Yast2 without problems on the TCP port 9100 and with the IP Address 192.168.2.134. I printed several documents with success. Yesterday after rebooting the printer stopped working. Checking it with the Yast2 connection assistant I'm not able to test the printer, even before installing it (I uninstalled it already). Ping test performs without troubles, but Yast2 connection test returns the following error: "Access test failed for port '9100' on host '192.168.2.134'." Everybody else at my office could print on it (using Windows), and I am able to test and use any other network printer.

żAny Idea?

Thanks

First, you can try to see if network settings have been changed on the printer. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.2.134. Even if you don't have admin privileges you can browse and check the network settings. In particular see if "9100 Printing" is still enabled.

Thanks for your advice but while trying http://192.168.2.134 I got a connection failure error. Any other way to check it?
