Thumbs down Netgear WG111T USB 2.0 Adapter

Has anyone ever got this device to work under Linux?

I've read loads of threads with people asking, how do I get it to work, what does this error message mean, etc.

I guess my point is, should I just give up now with this adapter? And if so, which adapter (USB) is known to work natively or with ndiswrapper/driverloader?
Using ndiswrapper, the furthest it gets is to make empty folders called ath.... and netwg... in /etc/ndiswrapper, so it isn't even taking my windows drivers.
It's almost like the adapter is something completely different to what the drivers are saying!
