I have a Netgear Wireless Router WGR614 and a Linksys WPC300N V1 for my laptop. Does anyone have any advice on how to (or can they) make them compatible? I am somewhat computer literate, so no techi lingo, please.
Both the router and card are compatible as they use the same RF Signaling standard. For a Linksys card to work with your linux distro, you will need to use NDISWRAPPER. Ndiswrapper will let you use a windows network driver (often found on the install CD that came with your card) under linux. You will need to do this because Linksys uses different chipsets and different vendors and they do not release specifications in a sufficient (if at all) manner to the Linux community.
You can find a lot of Howto's via a google search. Sorry, but you did not specify your distro so I don't have any links for you.
