Need your opinion on eVGA GeForce FX 5200

Hi guys!

Heres the story: a local store is having a big sellout and I saw this eVGA GeForce FX 5200 w/128 for PCI (At 39.99 U$)- I want it for a rather aging box I have that uses integrated intel graphics.

Whats you opinion? Should I go for it? Or is it not a good idea for a Linux box?

Also, and this may show my ignorance on hardware... I noticed something strange, the video card has 3 insertion points (you can see a good photo of it at this amazon link. - But my PCI slots (In all 3 boxes I have) only have 2 insertion points. Whats the deal? Is it a different kind of PCI or not a PCI at all? Or what?

For reference the intended mobo is a GigaByte GA-81845GV

Thanx for any help.

Do not get it. GeForceFX 5200 is worst than a GeForce4. You are better off buying a GeForce6 6200.

The three insertion points you are seeing is incorrect. What you are actually seeing is a board that does not have any contacts on that pin. It should not screw up the operation of both the computer and the video card. The designers choose to not have that contact because it does not need it.

Right mate, I appreciate the sugestion but the card you point at is for PCIExpress or AGP and my rather old mobo cant handle it.
