Need help with video card "Intel 82815 CGC"

Hi!!, I'm not a total Newbie now...

I have some problems trying to configure my desktop (it's an old one), I have just recently installed Debian Sarge and it's up & running just perfectly... BUT, when I start the graphical interface, everything apears at a extremely low resolution!!, everything seems like a houndred times bigger and it looks very awful, and a lot of programs can't be seen at that resolution, what can I do to fix this problem?

My Video Card is an "Intel 82815 CGC VGA Compatible"
A Newbie in distress is begging for help...

Thanks...

Please post sections monitor, device and screen from your X configuration file (somewhere in /etc/X11). Also tell us the specs of your monitor (hsync/vsync) or if you can't find them in your manual, post the make and type of the monitor.

Intel has drivers on their site; however, I've never tried them.

Well... I don't really know what model of the monitor is, but is an IBM, but I've found something that maybe is useful:

0000:00:02 VGA Compatible Controller: Intel Corp. 82815 CGC (Chipset Graphics Controller) (rev 02)

I don't know if that is useful info or not, and in the Intel page, I didn't find anything useful...

On the first intel page enter 82815 in the search field and search.
When the search is done, enter 'linux' in the search at the bottom, select 'search within results' and search again.
In those results, you should be able to find links with the text drivers like http://www.intel.com/support/graphic.../cs-004076.htm which in turn contains a link to http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...79&OSFullName=

But that might not be necessary at this stage. I'm quite confident that debian has a i810 driver somewhere.
Further please post the requested info (sections in x configuration file) first. And find the exact type of IBM montor, it's probably on a sticker at the back. Without that info, you might never get high resolutions.

PS the 815 in 82815 indicates that you have a motherboard with i815 chipset.
