need help with lm-sensors and sensors-applet in gnome
 

I am having problems with sensors-applet. It is
not displaying my core cpu temps, but the sensors
command shows that they temperatures are being
read by lm-sensors. iI am unable to get
sensors-applet to display my video card temperature, but my
video card temperature is being read by the
nvidia driver. All of this is shown in the picture.

Right click on the applet, select preferences, sensors tab, go through and figure out which sensors you want to use. The video card may require a different applet as the sensors are from a different source.

That sensors tab you are speaking of is shown in the screenshot picture. I wish you would take a moment to look before replying. The core temperatures that are not being read are checked off, and the video card temperature is not an option even though it is supposed to be.

As I said above the video card will require a different applet. It is NOT supposed to give the video temperature. This applet gets all of its information from lmsensors. If you had bothered to look at the sensors tab you would see that it is reporting you cpu temp, as reported by lmsensors(2nd from bottom). You have cpu temp selected multiple times. The top one does not work on a lot of motherboards, thus the secondary (and generally used) bottom ones.

Another thing that you should be aware of is that they are often mislabeled(chipset swapped for motherboard). You just have to watch and figure out which is which.

You will find that a good attitude and some thought will go a long way.

I apologize for my mistake. Since you did not specify which distro you where referring to and FC6 is list as primary, I assumed that we were talking about the standard FC6 gnome-sensors-applet rpm. Generally that rpm is not made with the --with-nvidia option and therefore it is not supposed to support GPUs.

Do you ever wonder why so few people reply to your posts?
