Need help installing Canon Pixma MX410 scanner.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 and have downloaded and installed linux-ij-scanner-driver-mx410_1-2_all.deb, scangearmp-mx410series_1.70-2_all.deb, and scangearmp-source_1.70-2_all.deb (I got these from Canon) and the scanner still will not work. It's not defective because it works with Windows. None of my Linux scanner programs will recognize the hardware. I've read that other people have gotten it to work but I can't duplicate their results. Can anyone help?

Did you compile and install this package? Its source code, not binary code.

Firstly connect your printer. If that didn't solve the problem visit:
http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer

And type your model and look for driver and other support options.
