Need Help Installing 2nd Hdd for DualBoot

Here is my system info:
Soyo6BA+IV, onboard Hight Point ultra udma controllers 4 ide channels, ide1,2 udma33 : ide2,3 udma66 Windows98SE
ide3: 15gb ATA66 Maxtor
ide2: plextor cdrw 8\4\32A
ide1: asus 52x cdrom
ISA Creative Modem Blaster FlashII 56 modem
PCI Yamaha sound card
RIVA Nvida Tnt2 (64) video crd

2nd Hdd is EIDE 5gb Maxtor - wnt to install it in empty ide4 but system wont boot if i connect it to ide4 either w/ jumper set to slave or secondary master D:\ Want to install Slackware8.1 RC1 thanks

Do you have more possibilities to set jumpers? What you need is secondary slave.

It might be a matter of BIOS hiccuping on the harddrive geometry. Poke around and BIOS, and if nothing else, set the cylinders, sectors, units, blah blah blah on it by hand (should be printed on the top of the drive.) Also make certain that you have the jumpers set on IDE3 correctly, the other drive on the IDE device. That bit me on the rump once... silly oversights.
