Need dual boot help...LILO..Winxp wont boot

I currently have Mandrake 10.0 on hdc1, and need to be able to Boot WinXP which is on hdd1. I have the following lilo.conf, but WinXP doesnt boot, just hangs on black screen with flashing cursor, Linux boots fine. Here's my lilo.conf...

Code:

# File generated by DrakX/drakboot
# WARNING: do not forget to run lilo after modifying this file

boot=/dev/hdc
map=/boot/map
default="Linux"
keytable=/boot/us.klt
prompt
nowarn
timeout=100
message=/boot/message
menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw
image=/boot/vmlinuz-i686-up-4GB
        label="Linux"
        root=/dev/hdc1
        initrd=/boot/initrd-i686-up-4GB.img
        append="devfs=mount acpi=ht splash=silent"
        read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz
        label="failsafe"
        root=/dev/hdc1
        initrd=/boot/initrd.img
        append="failsafe acpi=ht devfs=nomount"
        read-only
other=/dev/hdd1
        label="WinXP"
        root=/dev/hdd1
        read-only

Please help!

Thanks!! :study:

Try putting in "table=/dev/hdd" instead of the root line:
Code:

other=/dev/hdd1
        label="WinXP"
        table=/dev/hdd
        read-only

How is your system set up that you have windows on hdd? Where is hda-hdb?

Well, for years I had winXp and mandrake linux setup on different partitions, always worked great, even for my friends. Suddenly, doesnt work. In fact, seems like hard drive gets corrupted, master boot record or boot partition broken, I dont know. Anyway, I had just Linux for a long time, no worrys. Then Doom 3 came out. Ah shit!! need windows installed. So I set Winxp up on another hard drive, kinda cobbled it together, just for now to play doom 3. Anyway, I have linux drive as a master on primary controller, with cd-rom slaved to it. I have Winxp hard drive set as master on secondary controller. Dont laugh, but for now, when I want to boot windows, I just unplug the Linux hard drive. But...Getting dual boot would be much more convinient ;)

.....Anyway....I tried what you suggested, and now instead on loading WinXp, pc reboots : /

Here's my fstab if this helps?
Code:

/dev/hdc1 / ext3 noatime 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdd5 /home/scrag/WIN_D vfat defaults 0 0
/dev/hdd1 /home/scrag/WinXP ntfs defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,codepage=850,iocharset=iso8859-1,noauto,ro,exec 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /mnt/hd supermount dev=/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/part1,fs=ext2:vfat,--,umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-1,kudzu,codepage=850 0 0

Any other thoughts??

Thanks Again!! :scratch:
