The name is Ubuntu, not Ubantu.

First, it makes a huge difference which version of Ubuntu you are using. Please include that information when you are asking a question.

I got my wifi NIC to work in Kubuntu 8.04 by adding wifi applications. Open the Adept Package Manager and search for 'wifi'. Install the applications that are listed.

I had an easier time on a different machine by installing PCLinuxOS 2009. I still had to install wifi applications after the initial setup but it just seemed easier.
