Unhappy My sys motherboard is toasted, pls help

My system that has Fedora Core and XP won't boot anymore. No beeps, no monitor output. I tried everything I finally called Dell (I will never ever buy a Dell pc again). They are telling me to replace the motherboard. I just don't trust them. I am not sure if that is the case. How can I be sure? I removed all devices from the motherboard, still no beep although the light, I believe the ROM light on the motherboard does go on, so not sure what it is. It's an Intel 845PE chipset. I am afraid I may be left with the only choice to replace it. Maybe someone knows.

if that's the motherboard that comes with the dell xps and a pentium II or pentium III cpu, then it's probably the motherboard. i've had problems with the motherboards dying all the time on those. you could try to eliminate anything by trying out different combinations of devices connected to the motherboard but it's probably gone.

Sounds like either motherboard or CPU to me. If it was a memory problem, you'd more than likely get a beep code.
