my onboard sound on ASUS P4PE doesn't work under Linux(RH9)
 
Hi. I need help. I have ASUS P4PE mainboard with integrated AC'97. I've installed ALSA driver and utils, read milloions FAQ's, I tryed all things, but sound doesn't appear. Linux said that card is working properly but there is no any sound. I Unmute all channels. But there is no sound again. !!!HLP PLZ!!!

Hi..

1. Post ur lspci output.

2. By default All the channels will be muted. please check the Volume control settings.

3. Also check the dmesg for any errors in loading the sound modules

I had an issue with it saying the sound was busy after it was used once, have yet to figure out a way around this. If you can, you should pick up a cheap pci sound card, it would probably be better and it would be much easier to make work.

Hi uglydot..

The sound card busy will come if u enabled sound features in KDE option. KDE will try to use the device for each operation mouse click, etc... Disable that in KDE control centre. you may not face this issue
