My freecom Exthdd is taking a long time to be found as /dev/sda1
 
OK, i have a toshiba satellite, 2340 and its got Ubuntu 5.10 however this problem happens less with ubuntu than it did with FC4/Mdk10.1

When i plug in the USB2 HDD it takes about 10minutes until i can see the hdd listed with a sudo fdisk -l

It will eventually mount,

any ideas?
