For Fedore Core 2 folks


FC2 doesn't use XFree86, it uses xorg. This is important as the XF86Config-4 file needs to become xorg.conf in /etc/X11.

It's a good start but make sure the kernel-sourcecode matches then kernel you have running (use the "uname -r' command). Note the FC2 patch (July 17, 2004) is for the 2.6.6 kernel.

Hi everyone,

I just managed to get my HIS Radeon 9600 running under Mandrake 9.2 with kernel 2.6.3-7. All those instructions are useless without the one sentence within this post: "...make sure you have your kernel-sources installed." See below link for full info:

I just posted my guide for getting 9600XT onto RH9 or FC1 with nForce2. I hope this alternate guide is helpful.
