"Multimedia Bar with CD/DVD/MP3 player controlé" for Toshiba M30 notebook ?

Hello,

I would like to make this working:
"Multimedia Bar with CD/DVD/MP3 player control" here
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/7632/m302561zk7.jpg

But this is apparently no where written ...
e.g. http://www.uni-koblenz.de/~tenshi/tosh/

Would a Linux Pro have any idea ?
thanks

I'm going to guess that they're just simple multimedia keys. Whether you can get them to work or not depends on whether the kernel recognizes them as buttons and assigns them keycodes. If it does, then you can define keysyms so that you can run hotkey commands with them, including, but not limited to, controlling your media player.

Multimedia keys with .Xmodmap HOWTO

If the kernel doesn't see them, then you're probably out of luck.

The easiest way is with keytouch. Though the second site that your provided does tell you how to set them up for a Toshiba notebook using the FnFx utility.

Code:
xterm -e xev
nope
nothing is seen by the kernel

Try lineakd.

You can also use the gnome music applet if you do not need keyboard support.

No offense, but you are very, very hard headed. I already know what you are pointing to. I have the similar keys too and my (Dell Inspiron 1520) works just find with keytouch, so do not tell me I am wrong.

It seems it is the user is at fault. You either have the Window/Desktop manager going against you accessing a different xmodmap file, the desire keys are not yet designated in the media player, the FnFx is not setup correctly, or you or the distributor did not enable ACPI for Toshiba notebooks in the kernel.

If you have a better picture that is zoom into the spot your are pointing to, then I and others can get a better idea. The image right now only shows the buttons and that is about it.
