Multimedia applications does not work/Sound is there

I am new on linux. I have Intel based machine mb D850gb.I have redhat-9 running.It gives sound on testing tha sound but when i play any of the applications for audio/vidio it does not work. Although Media Player shows that some thing is running but no vidio/ no sound.What should i do.
