MS intellimouse explorer USB wireless Wont work Mandrake 9.1
Hi,
Im somewhat a linux newbie. I just installed Mandrake 9.1 (I had RedHat 9 before) and now my Intellimouse Explorer USB (Wireless and Optical) wont work at all. It stays in the middle of the screen. No buttons work, it wont move, nothing happens. How do I fix this? THANKS!
I can't answer your question directly. Have you done a search on "usb mouse mandrake" here or at http://www.google.com/linux ? It's probably a USB setup problem. You might also check in the mouse/input section in your XF86Config file, wherever it is in Mandrake.
There are some problems getting MS Mouse products to work under Linux. I suggest you get a logitech wireless optical mouse. Those have been reported to work with Linux.
Remeber, your using MICROSOFT hardware with LINUX. Those two don't exactly go together
Uh.. that's not quite accurate. I am using a Microsoft Intellimouse with Red Hat 8. There were no problems and no issues. Linux doesn't care about the manufacturer of a mouse as far as I know. I also have a Trekker mouse and a Mitsumi mouse on Linux boxes. Never had any problems based on who badged the mouse. (Excuse my verbing of a noun. )
Do you have any Mandrake USB mouse ideas for mattv2kx?
I had a problem with using a USB keyboard when I installed Slackware, but rather than find a USB solution, I just moved keyboards around and used a PS/2 keyboard.
I am having a similar problem. My SONY laptop has three USB ports, but the kernel does not appear to see more than USB1. So I am using a splitter on USB1 with the keyboard and a Logitech Cordless (USB) Mouse. Still no go, but notice the results of a dmesg |grep USB:
usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x46d/0xc501) is not claimed by any active driver.
I'm assuming therefore that there is simply not a driver for this particular device type. Does anyone know a USB mouse that will work for sure?
