mplayer xv output shows blank window on secondary monitor

I have just gotten tvout to work with my Abit Radeon video card. I'm using ATI's
newest proprietary linux driver (fglrx 3.12.0) with clone configuration.

Normally the tv shows my desktop just fine. However, when I try starting mplayer with -vo xv output driver, it shows normally on the monitor but on the tv the mplayer window is blank. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I'm assuming that this is a driver problem rather than mplayer's, so I'm posting on this forum. My apologies if this is incorrect.

Alternatively, could I possibly use some other output driver with mplayer? The ones I've tried either didn't work, crashed the entire computer or mostly just were plain slow.

System info:
Athlon 1.1GHz with 640MB memory
Abit Radeon 9200SE
Debian Sarge
linux kernel 2.6.7
Xfree86 3.4.0
mplayer 1.0pre5-3.3.4

Any help would be appreciated!
