MP3 Player

Hey, i just brought a new mp3 player and before i install linux i was wondering, will it work in Mandrake 10.1 ?

In windows, all i have to do is plug it into the usb port and i can use it like a usb storage pen, so as long as linux works with usb pens i should be ok.

Cheers,

Nightmare

well, kinda hard to tell since you didnt realy give any useful info on the mp3 player. If it conforms to usb standards and acts as a usb mass storage device, it can be mounted under any linux distribution with basic usb support, so definately in mandrake it will probably work, yes. And most likely simply by doing:
Code:
mkdir -p /mnt/mp3player
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/mp3player
# and whne finished
umount /mnt/mp3player
some will write the tracks on the umount, so dont be alarmed if it seems to jam for a while..

Just a note: after plugging the device in, run 'dmesg' to confirm that it _is_ actually /dev/sda1
