Mozilla Broweser noi connection

I finallay figured out how to connect to my ISP. I then tried the mozilla browsers that came with the Lunix program, only to find out they don't connect to anything. I then downloaded the Linux version of my Mozilla Suite. I then loaded it into Linux and installed it anly to find out it says " start.localnot.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again" I looked at the way I typed it in both Mozilla and the Linux dial-up program and they are the same. However, one thing, in MS Windows XP, when you double click on the Mozilla browser, you get a dial-up screen that has your name and password, then hooks you up. In lunix, this does not happen. What have I done wrong????

On Linux, when you start the browser, it awaits the connection is already established, and will not bring any connection window on (unless somebody has made a nice hack), like Windows does. So first you'll need to bring the connection up to your ISP - if you're using a dial-up modem, it's some kind of ppp (point-to-point) application like wvdial, KPPP or GkDial, or if you're using broadband DSL connection, it's most probably pppoe (point-to-point protocol over ethernet).
