I installed SUSE 8.0 with a Microsoft intel Wheel mouse "PS/2", the mouse works great during the install process, but after you restart the computer the mouse wount work. I tried mandrake 8.1 and the same thing happened. My dad has same mouse and his SUSE and Mandrake work fine!!!!IT tells me psaux is busy in mandrake, and gives no errors in SUSE. Can I fix this problem??? This is on a Tyan Motherboard with a 533MHz Filp Chip with 190 of RAM. (plz help me)

Gidday!
First of all, is your rodent USB or PS/2?
Then, you might want to check whether there are any
error messages regarding your mouse. Type
dmesg | less
in a terminal.
yeah yeah, I know micro$oft and linux dual but I have seen the mouse work on other systems, my dad has the same mouse and everything works fine on his system, using suse. I just want to get this mouse going w/o having to bye another mouse. Their are ppl who have gotten this mouse to work with mandrake and linux I know, but just not replying to me,,,, HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi
Is your mouse completely dead, i mean is this an X
related thing only? Or when you boot into runlevel 3,
does or doesn't your mouse work (gpm should be
running, check; ps aux |grep gpm )
As for X; check your dad's XF86Config-4 and see if
its different
mine for logitech wheel on ps/2 reads;
and for the busy psaux thing in mdk
try (as root) lsof /dev/psaux
and lsof /dev/mouse (notice lsof; list open files)
they should read the same
Hope it's something
good luck
well i too have the same problem, i have a logitech usb wheel mouse, the mouse works fine during the install, but when X comes up the pointer is like invisible, and if i move the mouse around the screen you can tell when im rolling over an icon (it changes) but the pointer is just not visible, the same mouse works well in MDK and RH, so i too am stumped.
