Mouse scroller not working
Hello everyone
This is really more of a minor irritation rather than a problem, but does anyone know how I can get my mouse scroller to work (Silver Crest Wireless), I've been in mouse settings but I dont see any options there I can use, I also tried installing gpointing-device-settings from the software manager but for some reason it wont launch so I uninstalled it any help would be much appreciated Many Thanks Graeme |
I have no idea, but I think a good start would be to run xev and test if the scroll "buttons" are being detected (run xev on a terminal, then move the cursor over a tiny window that will pop up, and, with the mouse perfectly still, just scroll up and down; then see if something appears on the terminal window. On my mouse, a pretty generic one, up is button 5 and down is button 4 or vice-versa). If they are not, my guess it's some driver issue, but I don't really know.

Hi DSC
Thanks for your help I ran XEV and there is no action from the scroller so I really don't know what do from there, I checked out the link and learned that the mouse has two modes normal & media in media it's supposed to mute volume when pressed and a adjust volume when scrolled, my mouse will only mute there is no response scrolling up or down, in normal mode there is no action when I press or scroll, so I really don't know where to go from here but once again thanks for your help it's much appreciated Many Thanks Graeme |
