Mouse doesn't work with harddrive install of Knoppix 3.4

I just got Knoppix 3.4 on CD and loved it. I've never used Linux before and was interested in it. I didn't like putting the CD in every time I wanted to use it so I looked into installing it on a harddrive. So I did a dual boot with my Windows XP Pro.
The only problem with the hard drive install is my mouse doesn't work anymore. There is the pointer in the center of the screen but it doesn't move, i've tried a few mice. I did xf86config in the terminal about 20 times selecting different things (It's a basic PS/2 2 button mouse on a desktop, i've seen problems with laptop mice and read the info).
The keyboard works fine besides when I used the CD before I could press the WIN key on my keyboard and the big K on the bottom would expand (The start menu on windows, i'm a newb). On the hard drive install it doesn't. I also messed around with xf86config for that with different keyboard layouts and it didn't do anything.
So I can't use my mouse or my keyboard because I can't navigate anywhere, any help?
I dont know if you need any more info, I can give you pretty much everything. I know almost nothing about linux so I may not be able to do much without specific info.
