Mounting USB Thumb Drive Issues

I have been trying to mount a USB Thumb Drive on RH 9.0. I created a new directory for the mount. The issue comes when I use the command "fdisk -l". Linux can't seem to recognize the USB Thumb Drive. I am expecting that it would come up as /dev/sda1 or something similar. However it doesn't. Anyone have any answers to how to get the thumb drive to be recognized. If I find the name then I will be able to mount it.

Thanks in advance

I know how to mount the device, however the device isn't being recognized. What can be done to have the USB Thumb drive recognizable.

When the command "fdisk -l" is used, the device isnt shown. How can the device be shown?
