Mounting SD card - floating point error?

I put an SD card in a reader, got all the right signs from the kernel (SCSI device: sda; write-through; etc.)including its 2GB size.

When I try to mount /dev/sda1 I get 'floating point exception' as a response, and it won't mount.

I've never had that message returned from mount, and I can't find any reference to it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Geoff.

A couple of ideas.

Is it a SD card or an SDHC card? The SDHC is a newer standard and some of the older SD readers behave oddly with a SDHC card.

A lot of devices format the cards in an odd way (non standard). If the card was formatted in something else you can try formatting it in the reader and see if that clears the issue.
