Hey, I've heard good things about this forum so I decided to ask for help here.
I'm running SuSE 8.1 Pro. and I have a CDRW and a separate DVD drive on my computer. However suddenly neither of them would mount any more.
I don't know why and I don't know what happened. Whenever I try to mount by saying "mount /media/cdrom" (doesn't matter whether or not I'm superuser) I get the error message "/dev/cdrom: Input/Output error mount: you must specify the filesystem type" while the kernel (on screen F10) says "ide-scsi: hdc: unsuported command in request queue (0)"
I have recently installed the OS but no new hardware. And it was working when I first installed it. This just randomly started happening.
I've just noticed that the same thing has happened to my server (the exact same OS). I never need the CD on that one so it doesn't matter.
PS: I am very much up to date with YOU (YasT Online Update)
I have a DVD-ROM and a CD-RW.
It doesn't matter what type of CD it is. It doesn't work. I've tried both data CD and Audio.
No I haven't manually mounted it before but SuSE has when installing new programs of the CD (but that has also stopped working).
I have discovered that I can can't mount /media/dvd or /media/cdrom but when I do mount /media/cdrecorder the DVD mounts itself. What is going on?????
