I installed Mandriva LE 2005 only yesterday and I can't establish the connection with the Internet. I've got Motorola SM56 modem. I configured TCP/IP connection, but every time I try to connect to the Internet, I get the message 'Modem is busy'. I downloaded the Linux driver from the Motorola website and installed it, but my modem still appears on the harware list under 'Other/Unknown', so I had to configure it manually, because Mandriva wasn't able to autodetect it. I don't have any Linux experience, so I would be very happy if you could give me some step-by-step advice.

Most of the Motorola SM56 Modem drivers in their site are not functional. I had a friend test some of those drivers and he also can't get it to work. Try using google for scanmodem.
