Motorola released drivers for its modem for Mandrake 10 which has kernel 2.6.3-7 here: http://www.motorola.com/softmodem/pu...263-7.i586.rpm
But, there is no driver for SuSE 9.1. Does any body knows how rebuild this driver for use in SuSE 9.1?
Thanks. I downloded the tar package but it was not source package. It is precomplied package. I just needed to do make install only which I did and the sm56 driver was installed successfuly. However, when I do modprobe sm56 this what I get:
FATAL: Error inserting sm56 (/lib/modules/2.6.5-7.108-smp/kernel/drivers/char/sm56.ko): Invalid module format
i had tried the driver on 2.4 kernel not on 2.6 kernel
and the module format has changed in 2.6
earlier the modules of the format sm56.o now they arte sm56.ko
I did it once, and I will never repeat it again . Kernel 2.4 uses totally different modutilities than Kernel 2.6. This created many problems which forced me to reinstall SuSE 9.1. Thanks for suggestion.
