Moto VT2442 configuration help? (Previously locked to Vonage)

Hi there,

I recently stopped being a customer of Vonage and was left with a pretty nice Motorola VT2442 which was mine to keep.

The nice folks at Vonage helped me get admin access to my router, which, when searching other forums, I managed to unlock using CYT4.6 and to reset the passwords. I also used the XML server function in the same program, to try to get my router to connect to an existing SIP service I've been using (on my computer, through a softphone software program).

After spending many hours on trying to get the box to connect to the SIP server, I can't seem to make it work. :-(!! I get a dialtone when I plug in my analog phone to the router's jack, but I can't make any calls out or receive any calls in (I get a "fast busy" sound when trying to make calls out).

It also frustrates me that I am unable to edit the tftp "default" settings (still set to Vonage) through the Moto web user interface screen (although of course I can set the current settings fine).

I managed to SSH into the box and noticed that it is running a version of tiny linux (exact version escapes me at the moment), and I got all excited, thinking I could download .config files and it would be only a matter of time before I got the box up and running.

HOWEVER, the version of Linux installed doesn't allow ftp, doesn't allow me to put files to it, doesn't allow mv commands, or get, or mget. It is driving me CRAZY!!! Here I have this box, which is mine, which is really great and quite sophisticated, I have a SIP provider which is working fine, and I just... cannot... get the two to work together.

Does anyone here have any experience configuring the VT2442 after it has been unlocked from Vonage, to work with a SIP service? Or has anyone tried and failed and given up? (So I know I should just move on from this thing)?

This is really driving me crazy. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Just wondering how you downgraded the firmware?
And where you got the firmware.

I have the Admin password from Vonage, but can't get CY v4.6 to unlock the device. Any suggestions?
