monitor not recognising new pc graphics
Hi I am attempting to install Ubuntu 14.5 lts onto a new PC. The monitor is not recognising the pc. IE "No Signal" (VGA)
It has an Asus A88X Series MB and Amd radeon dual graphics card. I have a dvd for each with drivers included, but would much prefer to use linux drivers. The PC has an SSD drive and a new un-formated toshiba HDD. I did not build the PC. It came with all the HW pre installed. I have checked that the graphic card is seated correctly in place but I cannot progress as I cannot access the BIOS to change the settings to boot from a CD. Please help. Thanks |
14.5?
the versions are 14.04 and 14.10 with " 14.04.4 LTS" "15.10" current also be aware that VGA is deprecated hdmi is the default being used Quote:
install a Microsoft Operating system to use those ATI/AMD cards have the driver included in the operating system it is built in , no need for a different driver in most cases |
Thanks John
I was hoping to install only Ubuntu, but its looks like I will have to install Windows as well. Then dual boot. I use dual screens hence the VGA connection. I was setting up the new PC using my older (VGA) monitor just until it was all working ok. I needed to use my existing PC just for things like this, to ask for help if problems arose, and there is still a lot of data on my HP PC to be sorted. meant 14.04 LTS typing error. My main monitor has HDMI VGA & DVI I will start again setting up new PC with HDMI monitor. I have also been told that if a remove the graphic card on the new PC, but with the monitor plugged in then MB will find the graphic drivers. I choose this PC/MB because it offered DVI VGA & HDMI connections. What a binhead!!! Its a long time since I have used windows but should have realised that the drivers on the DVD's were for windows. ugh Thanks for your help hope it works out ok. |
