monitor flickers on IntelD865GLC with RedHat 9.0
 

I assembled a pc using intel motherboard D865GLC, and P4 3.0G 512K L2 Cache, and 800FSB. I use the onboard graphics card, which is Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 controller.

I have installed Redhat 9.0 OS, and I bought a new Samsung SyncMaster 793MB monitor. I set the monitor display correctly using the redhat-config-xfree86. But I seem to get flicker on the monitor display in Linux. I have 600*800 resolution and million colors setup.

Intel web site says that the Intel® Extreme Graphics is already supported in RedHat 9.0 version, so I did not do anything special for the RH9.0. I use the stock RH9.0 kernel. I have not recompiled it yet.

I also installed Winxp, and when I sign on to WinXP, I see the refresh rate set at 85Hz and I do not have the flicker problem at all.

How can I fix this flicker problem in Linux. I have some basic knowledge in hardware and Linux. THank you very much.
