Monitor at improper resolution

I'm quite a Linux newbie, but have recently installed SUSE 9.2 (brilliant, even connected to the router, which Windows is refusing to do, even with the manufacturer driver).

But the monitor is at 800x600, and I know it can be at 1024x768 as it has been like that before. And when the computer starts up, the screen is smaller than it should be, and I have to resize it using the controls on the monitor.

It is a Studioworks76i monitor, which SUSE recognises, and even says that it can do 1024x768, but it won't let me do it. Also it puts it down as a 16bit.

It did not have Ati Radeon 9550 drivers, and has probed it as Ati RV350 AS. But I don't think this is the problem, as it worked before.

Please help me.
