modprobe and insmod

Hello,everyone!
Recently,I found a puzzled problem. In my embedded linux system, I have 3 wireless cards with 2 3g cards and a wifi card.
If I firstly modprobe the two 3g cards and then insmod the wifi card's driver, it worked well. However, if I firstly insmod the wifi card's driver and then modprobe the 3g cards, the wifi card should can's work as I can't find wlan0...

More help and advice needed ! thank you!

Well, I know that modprobe is more intelligent as it will install other modules if needed. What I want to find out is that whether the modprobe will influence insmod? On the standing of my situation, it seems it is. Thank you.
