Modem Question

Hello everyone, first post here - hope to stick around

Anyway, I'm running RedHat 7 and am looking to install a 56k PCI modem. I have in my posession a HSP PCTel modem (made by ONSpeed). I searched and searched and searched and finally discovered that this series of modems are linmodems, workable if I get the correct pctel drivers (for my kernel i need the pctel-2.2.tar.gz file).

However, I've searched EVERYWHERE and can't find this driver. Sure, several websites claim to have it or used to have it, but none of the downloads are up anymore. I've even tried a download agent like KaZaA to look for it but with no luck. So does anyone have the file or a (working) link to this driver?

If I can't get this route working, I'm considering purchasing a hardware modem (ACEEX 56K PCI Hardware Voice Modem, V.90 with a Conexant chipset) for $29.99. This a good choice? I can't find anything cheaper, so... The link for the product is http://www.pcclub.com/productdetail_...151&icat=Modem if you want to see a little about it.

Thanks for any help!

Here you go.

I didn't know about http://www.google.com/linux for a long time - it is a linux-specific search engine.

did you try http://www.linmodems.org?

They have links to all known linmodem drivers.

Yeah I've been there several times trying to information or links for this problem - like I said, I found several places that had the driver (at one time anyway) but don't exist anymore. But Bert's link worked, so...

Thanks again!
