Modem not Detecting


I dont know why modem is not detecting, Please anyone help me out for that, I have Zoltrix 56k Internal Modem.

I have a dual boot system in window 2000 server the same modem installed on the (port) COM 3 and its workinhg perfectly.

Please tell me how to install the modem, because it is not detecting by the Linux Network configuration.

I am very for everbody how will help out on that problem.

I am using Red Hat 7.3 and I have Zoltrix Cobra 56 k Internal modem and Using Intel Paltfrom mother board is 815 and processor 733Mhz.

Please infrom me in step by step.

Go to Linmodem and see if your modem is on the list. If it's a PCI most likely it isn't. Only a few modems work on Linux...Close to all of the external's work if you have one. If you have a isa slot you'll be more likely to get one to work....

I am not getting what toy are excatly trying to understand me, Kindly give me proper specification about the modem installation.

step one: determine the port your modem is on; go to /etc/sysconfig/hwconf.

step two: do you need a driver for it to work? Go to the makers website support. Try to get an rpm pakage to load the drivers.

step three: try to detect your modem. Use kppp or minicom, and go to DEVICE. Select the right port on your modem. Then go to Query Modem and try to connect.

step four: create an account in KPPP, with your ISP's local access number, and log on using your username@place.com and your password
