Question Modem madness

hi, absolute beginner here, Running Red Hat 9, have looked through the posts but cant find anything that answers my question. im trying to get an external serial modem working. 3Com US Robotics 56k Faxmodem working. kudzu picks it up when i first attach it however when i use the internet configuration wizard it doesnt find it after probing for it. im sure there is a reason (probably simple), your assistance much appreciated as if i install this machine again im gonna boot it through the window

redhat have a list of supported hardware at their site

if it shows up then you just gotta tweak it a little

if it doesn't, there is still hope

check the redhat site first
