Modem Driver
I'm a "newbie" to Linux and I've installed Mandrake 9.1 on my "test machine" and I was surprised at how easy it was ...even my network "came up" the first time ...the only real problem I found was my modem doesn't work. I found via the "hardware device tree" there was no driver module loaded for it. I did some checking on Linuxiso.org and found out the modem I have may have some "issues" with Linux. Anyone know where to get the driver for a PCtel HSP Micromodem 56. The more I read about Linux and PCtel the more I'm convinced I have that 1 in a million card that won't work with Linux. Someone please tell me I'm wrong !!!!!
I'm running Mandrake 9.1 with the following: mobo ===> ABIT KT7A CPU ===> 1ghz Athlon Tbird RAM ===> 512mb HD ==> WesternDigital 40gb (single partition only Mandrake) Thanks Tunebandit |
One serach on Google came up with this mini howto for your modem.
The search I used is here Section 3 of the Howto is what you want. Make sure you read through the howto before starting the install - it is worth printing it off before trying to go further. I cannot emphasise enough the value of doing searches like this before you post. |
Thanks XavierP
Sorry ...should've used Google first ..Thanks
