Modem Detection
I previously installed Linux Mandrake(Blue Bird) 8.2. All seem to
worked out well in the installation and configuration of the softwares and hardwares the system is using. I have MOTOROLA SM56 PCI Modem. I recently visited the site for a driver of my modem for Linux and Windows 2000. I was able to successfuly download the rpm package and tried running it inside the Package Manager Software Installer of Linux all seem worked fine. The package was successfully unpacked. The problem is when I tried to view the hardware devices on my system does not display any modem installed. What gives? Anyone can give an idea. I'm really gearing up on working on the Linux Platform. I really need to have it running for Internet Connection. |
Hi,
Check this link, probably will help you to fix that: http://www.angelfire.com/linux/sm56/ see ya ... |
Any idea for Red Hat 8.0 ???
Ok. That seems to fix the problem with mandrake, but would it works in Red Hat 8.0??

In Red Hat youwill have to check if the problem is the same ...
# dmesg If appear something like "kernel BUG at slab.c:1099!" in the first line, it could be solved in the same way ... I hope it does :) |
