modem
Hi i just install redhat linux 9 and every thing went fine, until i went to configure my internet connection it didnot find my modem. So i went out and did some research on my modem and i found some drivers for conexant modem internal with a chipset made by intel but none of the drivers were for my kernel what should i do and the site i found the drivers for was linuxant.com.

what kind modem do you have? (HSF or HCF)?
here is a link to conexant's modem driver site http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/ and it does have rpm which was for your kernel. |
however, i think there is a 14.4 speed limit on the free version driver.
i would send you a old copy of .tar.gz file if your have an hsf modem. |
modem
I have a HSF modem with a intel chipset i think yeah i would like you to send me the old version tricky_linux.

none of the drivers are for my kernel version, so i tried using the generic package and I had a error it said to make show that the kernel package header was install what should i do.

Hi, I have the same problem with an intel modem. Seems from what i've read :study: intel modems = problems.
I've just found a driver from my modem at http://downloadfinder.intel.com/ not sure if it will work yet though, will let you know. Perhaps they have one for your modem too. Good luck getting it working. wi77ard |

I got some drivers for my hsf conexant modem with a intel chipset. I went to go and install the drivers for my modem and it told me that the kernel source package wasn't install and i need to install it before i can in stall the drives for my modem. My kernel version is 2.4.20-6 and my redhat linux installation cd does not have the package so i went over to redhat linux.com to download the kernel source package but the are three files to download that have source files which one whould i download and i i could download only the source package from where.
|
you do have the kernel source on your installation disc. but you just didn't find it.
it's something like kernel-source-... also, the 3 image wasn't the kernel-source you needed, but was whole bunch of sources that's already installed on your system which was already compiled. |
My friend got the cd from a book he had bought and they put the source code seperate i have to order it so where can i download the source code.
|
where can I download my kernel source and the kernel is 2.4.20-6
