Has anyone gotten a ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 to look good (3d accel, etc)? are there drive hacks or anything out there... I wanna install a distro on my laptop but i dont want it lookin like poop

ps.. if anyone got a Broadcom 802.11b/g Wifi card to work too, that'd be cool, but im not so concerned about that.. thanks a lot for any help..

I've spent many hours searching for help on how to get those exact two pieces of hardware working - maybe like me you have the Dell Inspiron 8600. I'm afraid the search ended at the ATI website, where they say they don't directly release laptop GFX card drivers; and at the U.S. Dell forums, where repeated requests for Broadcom 1400 drivers was met with an official response stating they'd never be made available. However, I have found some reports of success, using either the commercial Linuxant Driver Loader or the sourceforge project ndiswrapper to 'wrap' the WinXP driver for use in Linux. I tried it once a while ago without success, but I'm now trying again since there are fresh instructions. Try nidswrapper.sourceforge.net. I'll let you know if I have any success.
