Missing /dev enteries after compiling 2.6.9 - SCSI-issue.

As the topic say, after I compiled and booted with kernel 2.6.9, I have hardly any /dev-enteries left at all, just hda1-5 and hdc (which is my IDE-CDROM).
I guess I should not care because it boots and all, but since /scsi, /scd0 etc also are missing, I can't mount my SCSI CD-burner.
I did compile SCSI-support into the kernel, and loading the module for my SCSI-card works fine (the disc in the burner starts to spinn), but what should I do to be able to mount?
I guess I must have missed something in the compilation, does anyone have any idea of what that might have been?

Thanks in advance
Dan

One possible reason your /dev/scd0 is missing is that it is not called that way.
New 2.6 kernels tends to call scsi device with sr[0-9] (sometime sg[0-9]) instead of the "scd[0-9]" old naming.
scsi device names are stated by a script using udev.rules as configuration file.
Have a look at your /etc/udev/rules.d/ and /etc/udev/scripts/, this could help you finding the right name.
Look at the output of dmesg command as it usually gives some useful infos on installed devices.
Ciao
