Mint 12 & Lenovo docking station

Hi All,
Just installed Mint 12 on my Lenovo W520 i7. Flawless install - all laptop hardware recognized.

I plugged it into my Docking Station 3 and it fails to output a display to my Acer monitor. I'm using the VGA out to the monitor.

I tried the 'Detect other Displays' in the 'Display' settings in Mint, but it didn't recognize any.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I use Linux Mint with a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop without any problems. I don't use a docking station at all, just a USB hub for the mouse and keyboard, other USB ports for my phone and external hard drive with PC-BSD installed and the VGA out for the monitor.

Ditch the docking station. Then see what happens. You should completely shut down Linux as a precaution before removing the docking station.

Keep it simple, just plug in your accessories into your laptop as you would do so in a desktop. Its "old school" & you have to remove them after a shutdown if you want to travel with your laptop. Still, sometimes simple is better.

I sometimes just suspend to RAM if I'm removing the computer, but do a total shutdown when putting everything back after bringing the laptop home.

Its safest to shutdown and restart, however.
