Minimum Hardware requirement for running RHEL 7 version
Dear All,
Please help me with a Compatible hardware that is required to run RHEL 7 version.
I know RHEL 7 requires a minimum of 4Gb RAM and 64-bit Architecture.
But can't determine the exact(minimum) processor requirement for installing rhel7
have gone through many searches but still unable to find the minimum nearest processor, i was told by my instructor that we need core i3 at-least. and it doesn't seems to be a valid prerequisite for rhel 7.
also let me know whether installing and running rhel7 within KVM which is run by rhel6 is possible?
Thank you Veera,
I am still left wondering. can this one be able to run RHEL7? core 2 duo processor E8400
Why are you wondering??? That CPU is a 64 bit CPU...and RHEL7 needs a 64 bit system to run. Seems obvious.
And the best place to ask about Red Hat Enterprise would be on Red Hat's own website and/or by contacting a Red Hat sales rep. RHEL is NOT FREE, and if you're going to use it, you need to pay for it. Otherwise, use CentOS 7 instead.
Addendum: RHEL7 requires atleast two threads of cpu execution. So 64bit intel/AMD cpu with atleast 2 threads is needed. So a single core Pentium but with hyper-threading is supported. And your core 2 duo processor E8400 has two cores but no hyperthreading. But still provides two threads. So it's supported. Also RHEL7 requires atleast 1GB of ram or 1GB/thread recommended. For more info see this page.
Thank you Veerain for the detailed explanation..
Thank you TB0ne i'm going to use Rh7 for studying
And it doesn't matter AT ALL what you're going to use it for. If you use RHEL, then you need to PAY FOR IT, period. Otherwise, you will have a very hard time installing other software, getting things to compile, etc. As you were told before, use CentOS 7 if you're not going to pay...again, it is nearly identical, but totally free.
You can find out what hardware RHEL/CentOS 7 needs, along with how your system's architecture is laid out, by looking these things up for yourself. If your'e going to 'study', you can start by learning how to do your own research.
